Blues Harp Licks, Tips and Tricks

Dear Blues Harp Enthusiast,

Whether we are starting out playing blues harp or have been playing harmonica for many years, eventually we all come to a point where we say "I'm tired of the same old licks". This doesn't mean you are playing badly, only that you are getting bored and want to learn more. This is a great place to be!

Let's face it, most players are happy and content with playing a few bluesy sounding bends and licks and that's fine for them. You know the type, They go to the blues jams and play their huff and puff licks and generally sound boring making it a painful experience for everybody. Then later someone steps up to the microphone, counts off a tune and blows some of the most amazing blues harp sounds this side of William Clark and Little Walter! This guy put in the effort to go a little further in his blues journey. Notice I said "a little further".

There isn't much that separates an average blues harp player from a truly great blues harp player. The main ingredient is attitude and a willingness to learn. In the case of a blues harp player, it is learning some techniques that most others are simply not using.
